Welcome to the fourth installment of months of the year, weather and seasons. This resource is geared towards learners of Key Stage 2 level and it focuses on the month of April and associated weather and season. Present the numbers from 1-30 in French first of all and then ask the children if their birthday is in March. Ensure you tell the students that the first of the month is ‘le premier’. Ask them the question, ‘c’est quand, ton anniversaire’. Encourage them to reply ‘mon anniversaire, c’est le ____ avril’ Present the story and vocabulary to them. They are also available in the workbooks. The children can look at their workbooks as the story is presented on the board. If there are gifted and talented students in the class or native French speakers, present the more complex vocabulary to them which is ‘il est pluvieux’. Get the students to complete the classwork such as the mix and match activity and the listening activity. When completing the listening activity, be sure to alternate between the lower level and the higher level questions. Next, the students can colour in the spring picture in their workbook and then cut out the pictures and the labels from the sheet overleaf and label the colouring in sheet by sticking the correct pictures and labels together. Play the quiz with the students. There are differentiated levels on the quiz and each student should select which level they feel most comfortable with. This resource explicitly looks at the negation ‘ne … plus’. First of all, get the students to revise over previously learnt negatives such as ‘ne … pas’, ‘ne … rien’ and ‘ne … jamais’. Show the next few examples of the use of ‘ne … plus’. Do the quiz with the students. They read the sentences and then judge the meaning of the sentences by selecting the correct answer. On slide 30, get the students to complete a differentiated level of their choice. It would come in very useful when starting the new academic year and starting off using Tricolore 1. There are lots of differentiated activities, geared towards learners of all abilities. If you have had a chance to buy the previous installments in the theme of food and drink, I truly hope you have had enjoyed them as the activities are very well-sequenced. If not, do feel free to have a look at them. Students who are studying the IGCSE French course need to know the names of various items of clothing, materials and patterns. This resource also revises grammatical points such as interrogative words such as ‘quel’, ‘quelle’, ‘lequel’, ‘laquelle’, etc, as well as demonstrative adjectives and pronouns. The activities are very well sequenced and they are also tailored to students of IGCSE level which includes listening, reading comprehension and writing in addition to open questioning. For the spot the difference activity, this could be used as an oral activity, assisting the students as necessary. They can write their answers down following the oral element of the activity. The subjunctive can be briefly introduced at IGCSE French level as students can be encouraged to implement more complex grammar structures in their writing in order to boost their marks further and is widely used as A-Level. Because the subjunctive can be used in so many different contexts and situations, I have devised its concept into various installments. This bundle consists of all four parts of the imperfect tense which is explored at Key Stage 3 and 4 level. The imperfect tense can generally be a very challenging tense to master, however these resources fundamentally explains all of the functions of the imperfect tense. Because the imperfect tense is so broad and very dynamic, I have devised the resources up into four parts, which are as follows: Part 1: Avoir and Etre - Describing age and a past experience Part 2: Regular verbs - Describing what one was doing or what was happening in the past Part 3: Irregular verbs - Talking about habitual or repetitive actions in the past Part 4: Reflexive verbs - Talking about simultaneous actions in the past Each of the resources provide many examples of each of the functions in the form of stories, quizzes and follow-up activities. Here is the ninth installment of the subjunctive. As you know, mastering the subjunctive is tricky business and it is more geared towards A-Level French. This activity basically describes more functions of the subjunctive in a nutshell in terms of various other conjunctions such as hypothetical state and expressions using impersonal verbs such as ‘il arrive’, ‘il faut’, ‘il va falloir’, ‘il faudra’, ‘il semble’, etc. It also focuses on reflexive verbs and impersonal verbs such as ‘il pleut’, ‘il faut’, ‘il s’agit’, ‘il vaux mieux’ and various weather expressions as it contains methods as to how to conjugate these reflexive and impersonal verbs in the present subjunctive form.
